The Quiet Season Anglers Should Know

As the Florida summer heat starts to dwindle and the early morning air feels a bit cooler, bass anglers know something big is coming-fall fishing is here!

While spring often gets all the hype, many experienced anglers will tell you fall is the quiet time to target big bass in Central Florida. Here’s a couple reasons why the fall should be at the top of your fishing calendar, and how you can make the most of it.

-Cooler Water Temps=More Active Bass

In the summer, bass often push to deeper, cooler water and aren’t very active. But in fall, water temps start to drop, and that triggers bass to move shallow and start feeding heavily to bulk up.

-Fall Feeding Frenzy

Bass feel that winter is coming and fall is their time to bulk. They are on the hunt for baitfish like shad and bream/bluegill, which could produce some of the most aggressive feeding behavior we’ll see all year.

-Less Boat Traffic

The lakes are becoming quieter and there is a peaceful vibe. With fewer boats and tourists, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a productive session-more lake to yourself.

Fall Baits/Techniques I like:

Spinnerbaits- one of my favorite baits in the fall, mimics baitfish and the bite is ridiculous! Hold on tight! Look for grass lines, docks and around pads.

Frog (topwater)- look for shallow grass and pads

Bladed Jig- cover water and get that reaction bite

(Green pumpkin)

Note: you should see a lot of schooling bass chasing bait, when that happens get a cast in all of that commotion, whatever you have in your hand, get it there!
